The Hardware Systems Engineer will work as part of a multidisciplinary team developing aerospace systems with a focus on airborne electronic hardware development on BETA’s electric aircraft and supporting systems. As a Aerospace Engineer, you will be responsible for the hardware and software system and component development lifecycle and system integration for flight-critical hardware. You will play a key role in the development, integration and test of electronic components (i.e. Flight and Autonomy Controllers, and Battery Management Systems). You will help develop functional system tests according to aerospace standards.

Requirements

  • B.S. (M.S. desired) in Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Software Engineering.
  • 3-7 years of experience in an aerospace systems development environment.
  • Excellent report writing skills, attention to detail and thoroughness.

Nice To Haves

  • Well versed with Matlab and Simulink.
  • Advanced degree, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience with requirements management tools (Polarion, DOORS, etc.).
  • Experience doing hardware verification and testing per DO-160, MIL-STD-810 or MIL-STD-461.
  • Flight controls or flight dynamics modeling experience.
  • Flight testing and/or system-level Ironbird/lab testing experience.
  • Hands-on experience building and assembling system test setups.
  • Experience working within GIT version control or other configuration management practices.
  • Skilled with Microsoft tools (PowerPoint, Excel, Visio, Word).
  • Pilot’s license or passion for aerospace and/or aviation.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Airborne Electronic Hardware team in the development of new and existing commercial and defense programs.
  • Support the design team in architecture trade studies, subsystem development and definition.
  • Define, capture, and analyze interface definitions and facilitate HW/SW integration efforts.
  • Assist in system functional test planning and execution, review results and prepare detailed test reports.
  • Drive efficiency improvements through test automation and creation of data reduction tools.
  • Prepare briefing materials for technical meetings and program reviews.
  • Create documentation and artifacts to R&D programs.
  • Use standard lab probing and troubleshooting test equipment.
