The Hardware Engineering Team provides engineering design & development services to a wide range of products within Raytheon. The Critical Item Production Readiness (CIPR) department is dedicated to ensuring that every product we develop is designed with its entire production lifecycle in mind. By integrating principles of manufacturability, assembly, scalability, and cost management, we aim to achieve production excellence while meeting the highest standards of quality and reliability. CPR is seeking a Hardware Engineering engineer to join the Hardware Requirement Verification section. The position is for an ON-SITE role in Tewksbury, MA. You would apply your skills to contribute to the requirement flow down, verification, environment stress screening and design-to-unit production cost (DTUPC) management for hardware in programs for Naval Power and Land and Air Defense Systems strategic business units. Working as an advocate for Hardware Engineering, you will coordinate between Systems Engineering and the Hardware Team to allocate the requirements, compile verification artifacts working with electrical (e.g. power/digital/RF/…) and mechanical (e.g. structural/thermal/material…) subject matter experts and develop compliance packages for design reviews and product requirements “sell off” with the customer. Similarly, for DTUPC tasking, you will coordinate between the Affordability Engineer and the Hardware team on critical items and technology to adjudicate cost reduction opportunities resulting in cost reduction initiatives.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a degree in Science,Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience
  • A minimum of 5 years of engineering experience in design, development, or manufacturing hardware
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
  • DoD Clearance: Secret

  • Specific majors: Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other presentation tools.
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively within cross-functional teams, fostering strong relationships with coworkers.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate within a team environment and work alongside various engineering disciplines, including Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing, Environmental, Software, and Industrial Engineering teams.
  • Proven experience in developing and delivering effective presentations, both verbal and written.
  • Knowledge and experience in balancing performance, manufacturability, and reliability requirements to design functional hardware architectures.
  • Familiarity with Department of Defense (DoD) hardware, environmental requirements, standards, and processes.
  • Leadership experience in managing tasks or projects.
  • Demonstrated experience in the development, design, and project-level responsibility for systems or major subsystems.
  • Hands-on experience as a hardware design engineer, with involvement through manufacturing and deployment cycles.
  • Familiarity with radar and military electronics design is a plus.
  • Experience with applying design-to-unit production cost principles to optimize hardware development.
  • An advanced degree (Master’s) is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform flow-down, allocation, and derivation of electrical and mechanical hardware requirements to ensure alignment with system-level requirements.
  • Develop and execute verification plans and generate artifacts to validate electrical and mechanical hardware requirements.
  • Identify and address gaps in existing or non-developed hardware against requirements.
  • Apply Design-to-Cost (DTC) best practices to support development programs.
  • Utilize and train on RTX tools, including PTC Windchill PDM and IBM DOORS, to enhance program efficiency.
  • Collaborate effectively with coworkers and cross-functional, multi-discipline teams to achieve program objectives.
  • Participate in training on Raytheon processes and procedures to ensure compliance and operational excellence.
