We have a fantastic opportunity for a Hardware Product Manager. Your Role in Keeping the Future in Safe Hands… Reporting to the Chief Technology Officer for Self-Storage AAGS, the Hardware Product Manager will own the strategy, roadmap, and lifecycle management of PTI’s Keypads, Controllers and I/O Boards, including next generation connected devices that integrate with cloud platforms and mobile applications. In this role you will act as the central point of coordination between engineering, design, operations, marketing, and customer stakeholders to ensure our hardware and embedded systems deliver meaningful value to operators and tenants across thousands of facilities worldwide. You will translate market needs into product requirements, guide development through launch, and continuously improve the product portfolio through data driven decision making and customer insights.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 3+ years of experience in product management, product ownership, or technical product leadership.
  • Experience managing hardware, IoT, or connected device products is strongly preferred.
  • Experience working closely with engineering teams in an Agile or iterative development environment.
  • Ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear product requirements.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills across cross functional teams.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Economics, Business, or related fields.
  • Experience with access control, physical security systems, or IoT device platforms.
  • Familiarity with Bluetooth, NFC, wireless communications, or device connectivity technologies.
  • Experience managing hardware products integrated with mobile apps or cloud platforms.
  • Experience launching connected devices or embedded hardware products.

Responsibilities

  • Own the product vision, roadmap, and lifecycle management for PTI’s hardware product lines.
  • Identify market opportunities and translate industry needs into product initiatives that drive customer value and business growth.
  • Develop clear product positioning and value propositions for new and existing products.
  • Maintain a prioritized roadmap aligned with company strategy and customer demand.
  • Monitor industry trends, competitive solutions, and emerging technologies within access control, IoT, and connected devices.
  • Define and document product requirements, specifications, and user stories for new hardware and firmware features.
  • Work closely with electrical, firmware, mechanical, and software engineering teams throughout the product development lifecycle.
  • Support the design and development of connected hardware devices including keypads, controllers, and integrated access control solutions.
  • Ensure product requirements reflect real world operational needs from installers, operators, and tenants.
  • Participate in design reviews, prototype evaluations, and product validation activities.
  • Serve as the bridge between engineering, sales, marketing, operations, and support teams.
  • Partner with engineering teams to ensure successful delivery of product features and releases.
  • Collaborate with marketing to develop product messaging, documentation, and launch materials.
  • Support sales teams with product knowledge, technical insights, and customer-facing presentations.
  • Engage with support teams to identify product improvement opportunities.
  • Lead new product introduction activities including launch planning, documentation, and training.
  • Coordinate product readiness across engineering, manufacturing, support, and sales teams.
  • Monitor product performance and usage metrics after launch.
  • Manage ongoing enhancements, firmware updates, and feature improvements.
  • Support end-of-life planning and product transitions.
  • Engage with key customers, partners, and industry stakeholders to gather feedback and validate product direction.
  • Participate in industry events, customer meetings, and field visits to better understand operational challenges.
  • Translate customer pain points into actionable product improvements and new product opportunities.
  • Demonstrate strong ownership of product outcomes and deliverables.
  • Communicate clearly with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Balance long term strategic thinking with practical execution.
  • Maintain a high level of organization and attention to detail across product initiatives.
  • Proactively identify risks or obstacles that may impact product delivery.
