14303 – Hardware-in-the-Loop Test Engineer (remote) – Juno Beach, FL Start Date : ASAP Type: Temporary Project Estimated Duration : 12+ months with possible extensions Work Setting: Remote Required: Experience planning, designing, and executing large-scale energy projects, including solar, BESS, wind, and hydrogen systems (15+ years) Experience in embedded/controls test & validation with HIL (3-7+ years) Experience with MATLAB/Simulink skills (Simulink Test, Simulink Real-Time; Simscape Electrical). Experience with general programming/scripting (Python, VBA). Experience with Speedgoat at ~1 ms base rates (fixed-step solvers, rate transitions, task partitioning). Experience with PLC integration; Schneider M580 familiarity preferred; understanding of IEC 61131-3 concepts. Experience with protocols: Modbus/TCP and DNP3 (command/telemetry, time-stamped events, buffers). Experience in version control with Git; comfort with code reviews and branching strategies. B.S./M.S. in Electrical/Controls/Power/Mechatronics or related field Preferred: Professional Engineering (PE) certification Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: Lead and oversee multi-disciplinary engineering projects across utility-scale solar, BESS, wind, hydrogen, and power plant operations, ensuring designs meet performance, safety, and reliability standards. Provide technical authority and regulatory compliance oversight, guiding adherence to industry codes, standards, and best practices across electrical, mechanical, civil/structural, and specialized engineering functions. Manage project execution and performance tracking, including planning, organizing, negotiations, reporting, and ensuring milestones are achieved within scope, budget, and schedule. Direct and mentor engineering teams, fostering collaboration, technical excellence, and increasing independence of junior engineers through structured supervision and leadership. Conduct advanced technical analysis and risk management, optimizing system design, grid integration, and infrastructure resilience while mitigating operational and regulatory risks. Engage with executive leadership and customers, influencing project decisions, guiding engineering strategies, and solving complex technical challenges to align with long-term business goals. Drive innovation in system integration and optimization, leveraging computational tools (ETAP, EDISON, GT Strudel) and specialized diagnostics to enhance efficiency, reliability, and sustainability of energy infrastructure Why apply?
