About the position
The Hardware Engineering Manager at Antech Diagnostics will lead the development and engineering improvement efforts for veterinary diagnostic products. This role involves managing a small team of engineers and collaborating with an embedded software development team to create small-footprint opto-mechanical instrumentation and consumables. The manager will oversee both in-house design and development as well as support OEM teams, ensuring that critical business objectives are met through effective project management and technical leadership.
Responsibilities
- Lead development and engineering improvement efforts for veterinary diagnostic products.
- Manage a team of engineers and support embedded software development.
- Prioritize activities for the engineering team across various projects.
- Foster the growth and development of staff engineers through mentoring.
- Serve as the technical lead on cross-functional teams.
- Interface with R&D, Operations, and Process Development to meet business objectives.
- Partner with Project Management and Quality Assurance to deliver innovations.
- Identify and implement technical solutions to meet cost, quality, and delivery objectives.
- Investigate and resolve technical obstacles efficiently.
- Coordinate technical evaluations and support of OEM development partners.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience managing engineering projects from concept to commercialization.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience managing, developing, and mentoring direct employees.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple parallel projects effectively.
- Proficiency in SolidWorks or equivalent design software.
- Outstanding communication skills for effective team collaboration.
- Knowledge of stage gate and agile design methodologies.
- Experience with Risk Management and Design for Manufacturing and Assembly.
- Background in Quality Management Systems (e.g., ISO 9001, ISO 13485).
- Experience with product verification strategy and testing.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience with electronics design tools (e.g., Altium).
- Familiarity with embedded software interfacing.
- Optical engineering background and experience with optical systems.
