About The Position

Qualcomm's Government Technologies (QGOV) division develops special products based on its wireless terrestrial and satellite communication technologies for the military, federal, local, and foreign governments. In this role as a Hardware Engineer, you will support government-sponsored research, development, integration and test of such systems, including adaptation and extension of commercial systems to novel applications and environments, as well as internal development efforts. The individual will work on a variety of projects crossing multiple disciplines from across the company to deliver timely results to Customers. You will be responsible for working closely with other engineering disciplines to design, develop, test, automate, and document communication capabilities. Excellent written and verbal communications skills are essential. Candidate must be willing to travel on occasion and be able to work well with others in a technical environment. Applicants selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Must be a U.S. citizen and eligible to receive a U.S. Government security clearance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Engineering, or related field and 4+ years of Hardware Engineering or related work experience.
  • OR Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Engineering, or related field and 3+ years of Hardware Engineering or related work experience.
  • OR PhD in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Engineering, or related field and 2+ years of Hardware Engineering or related work experience.
  • 2+ years of work experience with RTL/FPGA design (Verilog) and embedded system architecture.

Nice To Haves

  • SystemVerilog expertise across design and verification.
  • Knowledge of communication protocols such as AXI4-x, TileLink, DDRx, PCIe, etc.
  • Good understanding of chip-level functional model building.
  • Knowledge of Behavioral and Structural models and familiarity with simulation environments.
  • Experience customizing and debugging make-based build flows and working with Xilinx's Vivado tools.
  • Hands-on experience on validation and debug methodologies, static timing analysis, and timing closure.
  • Proficient with xdc placement and timing constraints.
  • Experience with chisel-based digital design, Firesim/Chipyard frameworks, and verilator simulations.
  • Experience with scripting languages such as Python and Tcl.
  • Experience with cm tools such as Git and Gerrit.
  • Linux OS proficiency.
  • Some C/C++ programming experience.
  • Proficiency in circuit design, schematic capture, component selection, and circuit testing.
  • Experience with Mentor Xpedition PCB design tools.
  • Experience with debugging tools such as JTAG and lab test equipment such as logic analyzers, oscilloscopes, signal generators, etc.
