About The Position

Join our team as an EMC Electrical Engineer and play a critical role in ensuring the electromagnetic compatibility of our automotive Electronic Control Units (ECUs). As a key member of our product development team, you will be responsible for creating EMC test plans, identifying and resolving EMC issues, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver robust and reliable products.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • 5+ years of relevant EMC experience in electrical commodity design and validation.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, leveraging applied electromagnetic theoretical concepts.
  • Technical training in EMC and RF Communications.
  • Knowledge of EMC design concepts and PCB layout and schematic review for EMC best practices.
  • Demonstrated experience working with electrical test equipment, including spectrum analyzers, vector network analyzers, signal generators, audio analyzers, BT and Wi-Fi testers.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

  • Provide EMC technical support to product design teams, including authoring component EMC test plans and translating test plan requirements into test setup requirements.
  • Review component test data, provide risk assessments, and determine root cause for anomalies to discern between test setup related issues and product design related non-conformances.
  • Find solutions for non-conformances and work with teams to implement design changes and improvements.
  • Develop and maintain expertise in EMC design concepts, including PCB layout and schematic review for EMC best practices.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest developments in EMC, RF Communications, and automotive communication protocols, such as CAN, LIN, Ethernet, serializers-deserializers, A2B, Wi-Fi, BT, and audio interfaces.
  • Support the design of electrical/electronic modules with respect to Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC), including review and assessment of module circuit design and printed circuit board (PCB) layout.
  • Develop and execute EMC test plans to validate the performance of our ECUs, ensuring compliance with OEM and international standards.
  • Work closely with our electronics product development teams, as well as with EMC vehicle application teams, to ensure robust design and identify areas for improvement.
  • Conduct EMC design reviews of components and associated vehicle packaging, leveraging analytical methods, CAE numerical tools (e.g. Mentor Graphics, CST, Ansys, ADS), and empirical testing to assess robustness.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to review design proposals and system tradeoffs, ensuring that EMC requirements are met.
  • Plan, source, and implement required test equipment to assess all device features and connectivity options, ensuring comprehensive testing coverage.
