About The Position

Platforms Infrastructure Engineering team designs and builds the hardware and software technologies that power all of Google's services. As a hardware engineering manager, you will lead the hardware team and build the systems that are important to our largest and dynamic computing infrastructure. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 6 years of experience working in a data center, enterprise or relevant technical environment (e.g., hardware).
  • 5 years of experience in technical leadership.

Nice To Haves

  • PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience in managing and designing complex hardware systems for data center and enterprise systems.
  • Understanding of the hardware product development process, from concept, design, validation, manufacturing and deployment.
  • Ability to influence decision makers and stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and grow a team of system hardware engineers that deliver Data Center products.
  • Define hardware product roadmap, system features and implementation plan.
  • Own end-to-end hardware system design architecture and product development, collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet project timelines and deliverables.
  • Partners with silicon, software, data center deployment and operational teams and Contract Manufacturer (CM)/Joint Development Manufacturer (JDM)/Original Design Manufacturer (ODM) from prototype, engineering builds to mass production deployment.
  • Lead cross-functional team to address any technical and deployment issues.
  • Collaborate with key hardware vendors and suppliers to drive the industry ecosystem to meet Google’s future needs.
