About The Position

As a member of the advanced chassis engineering team, you are responsible for the up-front system design work and decision-making inputs on all-new Ford & Lincoln products, including next-gen electrified architectures. Our functional architecture team is responsible for suspension, steering, brakes, wheels/tires, and chassis systems. We're looking for an advanced chassis engineer to join the underbody systems architecture team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or science, mechanical engineering preferred.
  • 5+ years of engineering experience preferred.
  • 2+ years of automotive experience preferred.
  • Strong cross-functional & communication skills.
  • Strong problem solving and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of mechanical integration & installation requirements, package & assembly.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with CATIA V5/V6 and 3DX is a plus.
  • Experience with FEA (ANSYS or Hypermesh) is a plus.
  • Experience with ADAMS is a plus.
  • Experience with underhood / underbody / dash package & mechanical integration/installation a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Create advanced design concepts of chassis components and systems (brakes, steering, suspension, wheels/tires/jacks) for Ford global vehicles and next-gen electrified architectures.
  • Lead new component design / package maturation in CAD. Examples are stampings, castings, forgings, coil springs, shock absorbers, bushings, ball joints, fasteners, active suspension systems, brake systems, and steering systems.
  • Oversee architecture system integration & installation, working with body, electrical, powertrain, vehicle operations, and vehicle architecture.
  • Perform strength analysis for various chassis components.
  • Perform chassis system analysis for kinematics and compliances, working with vehicle dynamics and NVH attribute teams.
  • Early supplier engagement/interface for advanced concepts.
