About The Position

Test and Measurement Systems (also known as NI) Product R&D has an immediate opening for a Principal Analog Design Hardware Engineer within our talented hardware design team in Austin, TX. The primary responsibilities of this position are to work with engineering and business teams to define, architect, design, and document NI products, with a specific focus on innovative analog performance. The ideal candidate has ample experience and deep knowledge of board level analog circuit design, printed circuit board design, and system level design, accompanied with a broad knowledge of the test and measurement industry. The Principal Analog Design Engineer position is a high visibility, multi-function role that deals with problems of diverse scope that span the full spectrum of design activities. Responsibilities include the ability to gather requirements, generate specification documents, detailed circuit design, circuit simulation, interface with manufacturing partners, and meet with product planning and internal personnel to design, architect, and deploy solutions worldwide. In This Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be Uses electrical design tools to design, simulate, and verify board level analog circuits for test and measurement products, including, but not limited to, switched mode power supplies (AC to DC and DC to DC), high-precision and/or high-speed analog signal conditioning chains (including ADCs and DACs), clock generation (phase locked loop) and distribution circuitry, input and output protection, and other support circuitry. Defining and implementing project plans, managing milestones, and holding reviews to ensure products and systems meet customer requirements and readiness for deployment. Owning and implementing individual technical project deliverables, guiding technical decisions, and driving field found issues to resolution. Traveling as needed (up to 10%) domestically and abroad in support of project objectives. Who You Are: You partner with others to get work done. You can take a creative idea and put it into practice. For This Role You Will Need BS or MS in Electrical Engineering or related field 8+ years of relevant industry experience in an Analog Hardware Design role developing Test and Measurement products Strong understanding of electrical engineering and electronics principles with experience designing, verifying, and debugging analog and digital circuits Knowledge of modeling and simulation tools (LTSpice, Maple, Mathcad Prime) Experience and proficient knowledge of schematic capture tools (Mentor Graphics, Cadence, Synopsis) Printed Circuit Board design experience Experience and proficiency with lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, signal generators, DMMs, SMUs, etc. Strong teamwork and written/verbal communication skills Strong decision-making ability to drive change and influence teams toward execution goals Direct and guide technical activities for designing, developing, modifying and evaluating electronic parts, components, integrated circuits for a variety of mixed signal analog applications System design and debug experience in a large-scale production or lab environment Demonstrated ability to: Effectively interact and communicate with customers. Work effectively in a diverse, multi-cultural group development environment Problem-solve effectively - diagnose technical issues and propose reasonable solutions. Take initiative, be a self-starter, and work independently. Requirements

  • BS or MS in Electrical Engineering or related field
  • 8+ years of relevant industry experience in an Analog Hardware Design role developing Test and Measurement products
  • Strong understanding of electrical engineering and electronics principles with experience designing, verifying, and debugging analog and digital circuits
  • Knowledge of modeling and simulation tools (LTSpice, Maple, Mathcad Prime)
  • Experience and proficient knowledge of schematic capture tools (Mentor Graphics, Cadence, Synopsis)
  • Printed Circuit Board design experience
