The Hardgoods (Camping & Gift Bar) Manager is responsible for ensuring that each customer receives outstanding service by providing a friendly environment. This includes greeting and acknowledging every customer, maintaining solid product knowledge, and managing all other aspects of customer service. The manager will assist customers in the camping and gift bar departments, which feature a variety of merchandise related to camping, such as tents, sleeping bags, knives, GPS devices, spotting scopes, butane stoves, grills, and more. In this role, the manager will interview and hire employees, manage and train staff according to company guidelines, and ensure that each employee receives the required training on a semi-annual basis. The manager will also address employee complaints, discipline, coach, and terminate employees as necessary. Additionally, the manager will determine and input employees' schedules in the time and attendance system, manage exceptions, and complete payroll in a timely and accurate manner. The manager will plan, determine, and distribute work to employees, evaluate their efficiency and productivity, and perform opening and closing duties per company standards. They will manage department inventory by working closely with the Inventory Control System (ICS), supervise merchandising of the department while maintaining company standards, and run price change reports daily to ensure they are completed by required deadlines. Maintaining a clean, faced, and straight department at all times is essential, as is working closely with buying staff to recognize sales trends and customer needs. Other tasks may be assigned by management as necessary.
