The Hard Surface Modeler places an emphasis on proportion, form, detail, and functionality, crafting three dimensional assets for production use. What You’ll Do Design and create 3D assets including vehicles, robots, spaceships, props and environments that are to be painted, animated and used in a production, with an emphasis on proportion, form, detail, and functionality Collaborate with the Modeling Lead/Supervisor, VFX Supervisor, and Texture Artist to identify and build the “look” for an asset Work with production and model leadership or CG supervisor to deliver high quality assets on time that meet all departments needs Build geometry with an understanding of how the asset will be used in the entire production process and adapt working approach to suit the specific asset needs Present your work in dailies and discuss all aspects of your asset as needed Performs other tasks where suitable such as shot correctives, gathering reference or building more simple character asset elements like props and costumes
