About The Position

The Harcum Recruitment Specialist is responsible for implementing excellent customer services skills to support clients with post-secondary education at Harcum College at Congreso, including financial aid processing, registration and enrollment assistance, and light case management.  For the recruitment portion of this position, the Harcum College Recruitment & Support Specialist will network with internal and external partners to attract qualified candidates, conduct informational interviews and orientation sessions, facilitate financial literacy workshops and other training sessions as well as create program-related marketing materials. Additionally, this position works with prospective clients to collect necessary documentation and complete all required forms to ensure enrollment in the program. Finally, this position provides light case management to students while attending classes to overcome any barriers that may hinder their success.   This position reports to the Adult Education Services Manager. This is an onsite position.   The Harcum Recruitment & Support Specialist applies the principles of the organization’s signature service delivery approach, Primary Client Model (PCM™), by promoting a positive employee/client-focused experience that is appreciative of the unique strengths, values and needs that each individual brings; and by using data to inform and drive decision making. Requirements

  • Basic understanding of Congreso’s mission, values, DEI&B vision, Mission2Impact, Primary Client Model, programs, and services.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of the community needs and demographics.
  • Ability to understand, acknowledge, and assess client needs to provide a timely, trauma informed approach in service.
  • Ensures the appropriate handling of sensitive information and understanding for issues such as confidentiality, domestic abuse, child abuse, and mandated reporter requirements.
  • Adheres to all Congreso, departmental, programmatic, and security policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Attends all Congreso trainings and in-services as required, including relevant professional groups to maintain professional, requisite knowledge and licensure.
  • Attends, participates, and facilitates relevant staff meetings to promote communication and execution of goals.
  • Ability to effectively use standard office equipment, including a variety of common software programs such as Office365, UNIDAD, and other customized databases.
  • Follows through on assignments, works in a timely manner, within established deadlines, and completes special projects specific to the function of the department, as needed or as directed by supervisor.
  • Demonstrates ability to work independently and collaboratively with diverse groups, in a compassionate, courteous, and respectful manner that fosters an inclusive environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills including effective and respectful communication with individuals and groups.
  • High school diploma or GED/HISET required.

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) written and verbal skills a plus.
  • 1 year of recruitment experience into any type of college or program preferred.
  • Excellent organizational ability to set priorities, organize workload, handle multiple responsibilities, and meet deadlines preferred.
  • Knowledge of the Eastern North Philadelphia community required.

Responsibilities

  • Represents Congreso’s mission, values, and commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging and will be an ambassador of our work.
  • Assists prospective students through their college placement, including but not limited to, support with degree exploration, completion of the financial aid process, grant resources, college registration and scheduling.
  • Counsels and advises students to persist in college and supports students in navigating the demands of post-secondary education.
  • Provides light case management services to ensure students overcome barriers that could lead to them being dismissed from the program.
  • Collects documents for outcome verification and supports the data team in maintaining quality assurance and audit-ready files.
  • Has regular contact with Harcum College, specifically staff that works with all off campus programs to monitor prospective student progress with admissions and financial aid.
  • Assists with outreach to Harcum at Congreso partners regarding recruiting and assisting those prospective students with the enrollment/admission process.
  • Contributes to creation of print material including marketing packets, flyers and brochures.
  • Develops and maintains strong relationships with community resources and other relevant stakeholders in the community.
  • Networks within and outside of Congreso to publicize student recruitment and other Harcum College at Congreso events.
  • Responds to inquiries regarding recruitment, determine eligibility of candidates, and conduct interviews with those who are eligible.
  • Implements orientation sessions, online Financial Literacy sessions and post-secondary class sessions according to team schedule.
  • Provides monthly follow-up to students via phone, letters, email, and scheduled appointments.
  • Processes program documentation and addresses client inquiries regarding program procedures and services.
  • Collaborates with staff to plan and executes non-academic events that may include professional presentations from regional experts as needed.
  • Reviews data in developing reports, evaluations, and for making information-driven decisions and recommendations for improving student support services.
  • Attends all related Harcum meetings and events, in person and virtual.
