About The Position

Hanger Prosthetics & Orthotics, Inc. is seeking a Certified Prosthetist Orthotist for its offices in Austin, TX. The role involves providing or supervising comprehensive prosthetic and orthotic care, which includes patient assessment, formulation of treatment plans, implementation of those plans, follow-up, and practice management. The position requires a unique blend of clinical and technical skills, as Prosthetist/Orthotists evaluate patients and custom design, fabricate, and fit prostheses and orthoses. Collaboration with other members of the rehabilitation team and physicians is essential to evaluate and analyze a patient’s needs for prosthetic or orthotic services. Responsibilities also include examining and evaluating patients, formulating designs for devices, performing fittings, instructing patients, and ensuring satisfaction with the devices provided. Additionally, the role involves providing detailed clinical notes, assisting with reimbursement activities, and training other healthcare professionals. The position requires effective materials management and adherence to safety regulations and compliance with various governmental regulations.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Orthotics and Prosthetics.
  • Valid orthotist/prosthetics license in the state of employment.
  • Certification in Orthotics and Prosthetics from the American Board for Certification or Board of Certification/Accreditation.
  • Completion of a residency training program recognized by NCOPE.
  • Willingness to relocate and/or work at various Hanger offices throughout the U.S.

Responsibilities

  • Provide or supervise comprehensive prosthetic and orthotic care.
  • Conduct patient assessments and formulate treatment plans.
  • Implement treatment plans and provide follow-up care.
  • Evaluate patients and custom design, fabricate, and fit prostheses and orthoses.
  • Collaborate with physicians and rehabilitation team members.
  • Examine and evaluate patient's needs related to disease and functional loss.
  • Perform fittings, including static and dynamic alignments.
  • Instruct patients in the use of prostheses or orthotics.
  • Identify and reconcile issues to ensure patient satisfaction.
  • Provide detailed clinical notes to patient records.
  • Assist administrative staff with reimbursement activities.
  • Provide in-service training to physicians and allied health care professionals.
  • Select materials and make cast measurements and model modifications.
  • Utilize effective materials management and quality processes.
  • Meet with physicians and case managers to enhance business relationships.
  • Plan and implement strategies to meet revenue targets.
  • Mentor residents or newly certified Prosthetists or Orthotists.
  • Adhere to safety regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Perform other duties or special projects as assigned.
