About The Position

The Aviation Site Production Manager is responsible for planning, directing, and executing all aircraft production, maintenance, modification, and repair activities at the assigned aviation site or depot. This role ensures safe, compliant, on-schedule, and cost-effective execution of aircraft induction through delivery while maintaining full compliance with contractual, technical, quality, and regulatory requirements. The Production Manager leads cross-functional teams across maintenance, quality, engineering, supply chain, and support functions to achieve production throughput, schedule adherence, and customer readiness objectives in a DoD, OEM, or commercial aviation environment.

Requirements

  • Able to develop and execute integrated aircraft production schedules to meet delivery and throughput targets.
  • Must be able to lead and align a multi-disciplinary aviation workforce to meet production demands within a safety-focused culture.
  • Integrate maintenance, engineering, quality, supply chain, and program stakeholders to sustain production flow.
  • Perform Non-recurring engineering in support of Depot level documents associated with Department of Defense aviation modifications, the application of these modifications to the fleet, and the logistics support activities associated with supporting aviation customers.
  • Must be able to manage requirements for modification kit final development, production, and installation.
  • Must have verifiable experience and a proven ability to determine requirements, personnel, repair parts, time, allocation, and facility requirements necessary to perform maintenance actions at aviation facility.
  • Must have an extensive working knowledge of both military and general aviation aircraft and maintenance principles.
  • Must have verifiable experience with maintenance requirements at the organizational, intermediate, and particularly depot levels.
  • Must have thorough experience in maintenance and completion of aircraft forms, logbooks and other maintenance records.
  • Must possess effective communicative skills, both oral and written, to deal with corporate and customer concerns.
  • Must be able to drive continuous improvement initiatives using Lean, Six Sigma, or similar methodologies to improve throughput, reduce rework, and optimize labor utilization.
  • Must have a proven history of reliability and demonstrated initiative with proactive supervisory management skills as an aircraft mechanic and supervisor.
  • Bachelor’s degree from accredited college or university with >8 years related experience or Associate’s degree with >15 years related experience.
  • Program startup or site stand-up experience.
  • Experience with depot-level structural modification or heavy maintenance programs.
  • Experience operating in AS9110 / AS9100 production environment.
  • Experience working with DCMA or Government programs.
  • A&P License or equivalent military aircraft maintenance certifications.
  • Minimum of 10 years supervisory experience
  • Must be able to pass a drug screening.
  • Must be able to obtain a government security clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, coordinate, manage and direct depot-level aircraft maintenance. Over and Above (O&A) efforts, and modification from induction through delivery in compliance with technical standards.
  • Develop and maintain integrated production schedules aligned with contract requirements, material availability, and workforce capacity.
  • Monitor production flow, work-in-process (WIP), and milestone performance to ensure on-time aircraft delivery.
  • Lead daily production meetings, status reviews, and recovery planning actions.
  • Identifies production risks and implements mitigation and recovery actions to protect schedule and delivery commitments.
  • Establish staffing plans, labor allocation, and workload balancing across aircraft lines.
  • Ensure workforce qualifications, certifications, and training compliance (e.g., airframe, powerplant, run/taxi, special processes).
  • Promote a safety-first culture and enforce all environmental, health, and safety requirements.
  • Ensures production meets technical, contractual, and regulatory requirements with full documentation and configuration control.
  • Partner with Quality Assurance to maintain AS9110/AS9100 and DCMA compliance standards.
  • Ensure proper documentation, signoffs, and configuration control throughout production.
  • Support audits, surveillance, and customer inspections.
  • Serve as primary production interface with Program Management, Government, and customer representatives.
  • Provide aircraft status, risks, and recovery plans during program reviews and production meetings.
  • Support contract performance metrics including schedule, cost, and quality objectives.
  • Implement maintenance, engineering, quality, supply chain, and program stakeholders to sustain production flow.
  • Analyze and communicate accurate production status, forecasts, and risks to leadership and Government customers.
  • Lead root cause and corrective action for production escapes or delays.
