About The Position

The Hangar Facilities Technician is a hands-on role responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, safety, and operational readiness of hangar, office, and exterior facilities supporting an FAA-regulated Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) operation. This position performs electrical, plumbing, industrial cleaning, and general facility maintenance in an active hangar environment, ensuring all areas remain FOD-free, compliant, secure, and audit-ready. The role supports aviation operations but does not perform aircraft maintenance or approve work affecting airworthiness.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 6–8 years of hands-on facilities or maintenance experience (industrial, aviation, or manufacturing preferred)
  • Experience with electrical, plumbing, and general facility maintenance
  • Experience operating industrial cleaning or maintenance equipment
  • Working knowledge of OSHA safety standards and hazardous materials handling
  • Ability to lift-up to 50 lbs. and work in an active hangar environment
  • Ability to pass airport background check and obtain security badge

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in an FAA-regulated environment (Part 145, 135, or 91)
  • Aviation, industrial, or warehouse facility experience
  • Familiarity with FOD prevention practices
  • Experience working at a commercial airport or secure facility

Responsibilities

  • Perform hands-on facility maintenance across hangars, offices, restrooms, break rooms, storage, and exterior areas
  • Conduct basic electrical, plumbing, and general repairs (non-licensed scope)
  • Operate industrial cleaning equipment (floor scrubbers, pressure washers, etc.)
  • Maintain hangar floors and work areas in a clean, safe, and FOD-free condition
  • Support facility readiness for scheduled and unscheduled maintenance events
  • Conduct routine inspections and report facility or safety concerns
  • Assist with facility setup or reconfiguration to support MRO operations
  • Perform work in compliance with: FAA regulations and Repair Station Manual (RSM/MOE) Orlando Sanford Airport Authority rules and security procedures OSHA safety standards and HazCom requirements Environmental and hazardous materials regulations
  • Properly manage and clean up hazardous materials (oil, fuel, Skydrol, hydraulic fluids, chemicals)
  • Always follow PPE requirements and safe work practices
  • Support internal and external audits and facility inspections
  • Comply with airport access control, badging, and escorting requirements
  • Immediately report security issues, unsafe conditions, or spills
  • Maintain awareness of working in controlled and secure airport areas
  • All employees must comply with FAA regulations, company policies, safety procedures, and quality system requirements. Failure to comply may result in disciplinary action up to and including termination.
