About The Position

We have a brilliant opportunity to join our fantastic services across Middlesbrough. We are the multi skilled hands-on practical support that helps our colleagues deliver services to our customers. We work with customers who are at risk of homelessness, complex mental health or learning disability, across a mix of properties and grounds. As our handy person, you’ll spend much of your time working across several different services and out in the community.

Requirements

  • A team player with a can-do attitude and enthusiasm.
  • General maintenance know-how, a bit of carpentry, basic plumbing and confidence with a paintbrush or broom
  • Comfortable working and communicating with people from all walks of life.
  • Ability to use technology to log day to day information and process orders.
  • To get from A to B, you’ll need a valid driving licence and a vehicle insured for business purposes. The great news is that we’ll pay your mileage!

Responsibilities

  • Perform minor or emergency repairs, decorating and cleaning in properties and communal areas.
  • Handle tasks like hanging curtain poles, moving furniture, touching up paint, changing washers, unblocking sinks, mowing lawns and clearing grounds.
  • Carry out regular fire safety checks.
  • Work with colleagues, contractors and customers.
  • Liaise with Customer Service Centre and contractors to report and follow up on repairs outside your remit.
