About The Position

As a HANDS Specialist I, you will serve as a trusted partner to families with infants and toddlers, supporting healthy child development and empowering parents during the critical early years of life. Through home visits and community outreach, you will educate, connect, and advocate for families, helping them access resources while promoting positive parenting techniques. This is a full-time, non-exempt role ideal for compassionate professionals with backgrounds in social work, nursing, early childhood education, or related fields who are passionate about making a lasting impact on families and young children.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Nursing, Early Childhood Education, Social or Behavioral Science, or related field.
  • One (1) year of experience providing case management services required if degree is not directly in Social Work, Nursing, or Early Childhood Education.
  • Current CPR certification (or ability to obtain within probationary period).

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in Human Services may substitute for the one (1) year of experience.
  • Associate degree in Nursing with current Kentucky (or compact state) licensure and two (2) years of public health experience.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct parent assessments and surveys within 30 days of referral based on prenatal or birth records to determine program eligibility.
  • Provide ongoing home visitation and outreach to support families in developing positive parenting and coping strategies.
  • Educate parents on child development, nutrition, safety, and early education resources.
  • Connect families with community resources and provide referrals as needed.
  • Maintain accurate service logs, schedules, and charting in compliance with HANDS program policy and guidelines.
  • Prepare reports and analyses as required by state and local program standards.
  • Develop and distribute informational materials that meet HANDS program requirements.
  • Interpret laws, regulations, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance with state and federal standards.
  • Work closely with supervisors, coordinators, and agency staff to monitor and evaluate program requirements.
  • Participate in program modifications and improvements as needed.
  • Attend meetings, trainings, and seminars to remain current on HANDS standards and best practices.
