The Certified Hand Occupational Therapist performs evaluation/re-evaluation, develops a plan of care, provides evidence-based treatment, assesses data reflective of the patient's status and appropriately interprets information relative to the patient's needs. Combines comprehensive knowledge of the structure, function and activity of the upper limb in order to specialize in the treatment and rehabilitation of the upper extremity (hand, wrist, elbow, and shoulder girdle). Works closely with the patient, family, and members of a physician-led team in providing individualized patient treatment. Completes required documentation of care and appropriate billing consistent with professional guidelines. Engages in research, education and quality initiatives in pursuit of excellence in the provision of care and develops and carries out a personal plan for professional growth.
