About The Position

The Hand Bindery Supervisor is responsible for leading the Hand Bindery team to meet day-to-day operation schedules while also keeping quality standards at a high level. The Hand Bindery Supervisor is responsible for all employee performance management including but not limited to employee productivity, coaching, hiring, terminations, overtime, and the development and deployment of internal processes, procedures, and routines to ensure high quality standards of performance. The Hand Bindery Supervisor is a working leader that is responsible for leading and managing direct reports while working alongside the team members on day-to-day tasks.

Requirements

  • Industry related mailing and print experience required.
  • Excellent communication and writing skills to appropriately interpret and relay production instructions.
  • Professional and proactive interaction with clients and internal clients is a key component of the position.
  • Extensive knowledge of the print and mailing industries, high quality standards, mature judgement, and strong organizational work habits.
  • Five or more years within a similar role with extensive knowledge of the printing industry, high quality standards, mature judgement, and strong organizational work habits.
  • An Associate Degree in printing or related field or a High School diploma/GED along with the equivalent industry related experience and training.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the day-to-day performance of the production schedule ensuring high quality standards are met.
  • Lead the entire employee performance process from delivering annual performance reviews, hiring, coaching, training, recognition, to terminations.
  • Responsible for scheduling direct reports schedules and monitoring effective productivity vs. estimated projections.
  • Manage and lead the following areas; Hand Bindery and Hand Bindery equipment (Shrink-wrappers, drills, padding, coil/wire binding, laminating).
  • Collaborate and deploy effective plans to ensure production schedules are met on time and productions standards are met with high-quality standards.
  • Create, document, train, audit and continually improve bindery processes and procedures to minimize and eliminate quality errors.
  • Lead cross functional teams to ensure continuous improvement in processes, quality and productivity while working to find cost reductions.
  • Knowledge of production techniques, equipment capabilities and characteristics of production materials to maximize productivity and customer satisfaction.
  • Lean philosophy through Kaizen event participation, 6-Sigma, improvement activities and lean initiatives to support corporate objectives and continuous improvement.
  • Minimize waste, optimize efficiencies, and utilize capacities.
  • Other duties as assigned.
