About The Position

The Hall Director (HD) is an integral component to the success of the Residence Education area for University Housing. The HD is responsible for creating a community where academics, career readiness, and community involvement are honored. This position facilitates an environment within the hall or complex that contributes to the development of students and staff academically, socially, physically and culturally. Additionally, the HD provides leadership for the day-to-day management of the hall or complex staff to create a safe, clean and comfortable environment for students. The HD articulates to students and upholds the philosophy and policies of University Housing, the Division of Student Affairs, and the University while representing and presenting the needs of the students to the administration. The HD role is one of servant leadership and contributes significantly to the personal growth and development of their staff members and hall residents. Requirements

  • The formal education equivalent of a bachelor's degree with a major in sociology, public administration, or related field from an accredited institution of higher education
  • At least two years of experience in program administration or related area
  • Applicable equivalencies may be considered for the above qualifications.
  • Knowledge of how to plan and organize events for students
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational and administrative skills

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in college student personnel, higher education administration, counseling, or a directly related field of study from an accredited institution of higher education
  • Graduate and/or full-time experience with community living and leadership development
  • At least three years of experience in program administration or related area
