About The Position

The Umonhon Alcohol/Drug Program (UADP) Halfway House Tech is responsible for supporting and assisting in all phases of the program. The program utilizes volunteers and aims to identify and refer individuals who are experiencing problems related to alcohol and drug use and abuse. As a HWH Tech, the employee is expected to assist in the ongoing process of individual and family program planning, evaluation, and referral. In addition, the HWH Tech should be familiar with both State of Nebraska (MH/SA) reporting forms.

Requirements

Must possess a High School Diploma or General Education Degree (G.E.D.).
Must have a driver's license and be insurable.
Must have a sobriety of 6 months or more.
Requires high moral standards, emotional stability, and the ability to exercise sound judgement when making decisions.
Must demonstrate a proactive approach towards work-related activities, without requiring prompting or supervision.
Proficient in facilitating group discussions to identify problems and find effective resolutions, while maintaining composure and working efficiently in stressful situations.
Excellent written communication skills, including the ability to write in a clear and concise manner with good grammar, spelling, punctuation, sentence structure, and penmanship.
Excellent verbal communication skills, including the ability to speak effectively and articulately, displaying active listening skills, empathy, and concern.
Must pass background check, physical, and pre-employment drug screen.

Responsibilities

Assist in monitoring and implementing aftercare treatment plans for individuals admitted to the HWH either before pre-treatment or upon completion of inpatient alcohol/drug abuse/addiction treatment.
Conduct weekly individual and group sessions, as well as in-house meetings, to educate and support clients/residents in developing knowledge and skills related to their unique experiences with alcohol/drug addiction.
Facilitate the introduction of residents to the family unit's basic role and values to promote self-worth, self-respect, self-image, and emotional well-being.
Maintain an inventory of all purchases, equipment, supplies, and keys in the HWH.
Supervise and monitor the activities and schedules of clients to ensure compliance with program and HWH rules and regulations.
Conduct an orientation for all new residents, explaining the rules and regulations of the HWH.
Conduct exit interviews, collect all HWH items (e.g., towels, bedding, alarm clocks), and ensure their return.
Assign chores and duties to residents in accordance with HWH rules and regulations.
HWH staff will report to the primary counselor when rules or regulations are violated.
Participate in all Umonhon Alcohol/Drug Program community-based activities aimed at preventing alcohol and drug abuse.
Assist in organizing and implementing social, cultural, and recreational activities for HWH residents.
Educate all residents on how alcohol/drug abuse negatively impacts their entire life and is a destructive behavior that can be changed.
Provide guidance and support to clients in their efforts to develop alternative coping methods for stress, emotional confusion, and frustration that often accompany substance relapse or recidivism.
Assist in scheduling appointments and providing transportation, if necessary, to promote client well-being.
Must be able to work varying shifts, weekends and holidays.
Perform other duties as assigned.
