About The Position

The Assistant IT Officer at Holland America Line plays a crucial role in ensuring the efficient operation and maintenance of computer and network systems on board the vessels. This position focuses on providing support and troubleshooting for IT-related issues, managing hardware and software installations, and maintaining the onboard IT infrastructure, including IPTV and network systems.

Requirements

• Experience in IT support and maintenance of computer systems and networks
• Knowledge of network infrastructure and server maintenance
• Familiarity with VMware virtual infrastructure and backup systems
• Ability to troubleshoot and repair hardware and software issues
• Strong communication skills for user support and reporting

Nice To Haves

• Experience with IPTV systems and satellite infrastructure
• Knowledge of CCTV systems
• Familiarity with mobile device management
• Experience in a maritime or cruise line environment

Responsibilities

• Follow HESS policies and procedures provided by shore side Fleet IT, Ships management and the Company
• Work with Senior IT Officer/IT Officer to plan, facilitate, and deploy software/hardware projects and upgrades
• Providing day to day operational support for desktops, laptops, peripherals and all mobile devices as well as providing user support
• Work daily with Senior IT Officer/IT Officer on maintenance of Server and Network Infrastructure if assigned and instructed by superior
• Responsible for onboard IPTV System and its infrastructure onboard our vessels, providing day to day operation support for Broadcast Center and Satellite TV System
• Assisting in receiving, tracking and off-loading all IT related equipment on and off the vessel
• Assist in Daily, Weekly, Monthly checklist tasks to be completed as per shoreside instructions
• Weekly status reporting back to Senior IT Officer/IT Officer
• Document hand-over reports to in-coming Assistant IT Officer's
• Assist in Set-up, set-down, and troubleshoot of embarkation check-in workstations and equipment
• Management of on-board IT inventory
• Routine repairs and maintenance of hardware where possible
• Assist Senior IT Officer/IT Officer in supporting for all systems including Network infrastructure, VMware virtual infrastructure, Backup Systems, Satellite infrastructure, CCTV Systems, IPTV Systems, Printers and Scanners, and Internet Café (iCafe) systems
• Follows and adheres to all Fleet Regulations related to health and safety procedures, training and requirements
• Leads by example in matters of professionalism, ethics, responsibility, integrity, ownership, engagement and personal presentation
• Fulfills emergency duty as assigned in the Ships Mustering System; Ensures to attend applicable trainings in a timely manner.
