About The Position

The Habilitation Specialist 1 position at the Office for People With Developmental Disabilities involves developing individualized Program Goals and On-Going Services for individuals, focusing on daily living skills. The role includes providing active treatment through instruction of classes, training staff in the implementation of Activities of Daily Living goals, and maintaining documentation. The specialist will observe goal implementation, participate in team meetings, and maintain relationships with other disciplines. Interaction with individuals will be consistent with OPWDD values, and the specialist will advocate on their behalf. Additional responsibilities include attending mandatory training, responding to duress alarms, and accompanying residents on trips as needed.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's or higher-level degree in a human services field.

Responsibilities

  • Develop individualized Program Goals and On-Going Services for individuals addressing program needs related to daily living skills.
  • Provide active treatment through instruction of classes and complete related documentation.
  • Train DDSCTA and supervisory staff in proper implementation of Activities of Daily Living goals and class goals.
  • Observe ADL goal implementation.
  • Participate in quarterly/annual/special team meetings and complete input and assessments for Hab domain and assigned classes.
  • Maintain a working relationship with other disciplines in the provision of program services.
  • Interact with individuals in a manner consistent with the values of OPWDD and advocate on behalf of the individuals.
  • Attend and participate in all mandatory in-services training and staff meetings.
  • Respond to duress alarms as appropriate.
  • Go on trips with residents, direct care staff, and other clinical staff as needed and assigned.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
