Now Hiring at the Birmingham Family YMCA General Function The Gymnastics Instructor will be responsible for teaching the three YMCA Gymnastics Recreational–Competitive Classes which are focused on Women’s Artistic Gymnastics [Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced].

Requirements

At a minimum, a high school degree or equivalent (18+ years of age)
2-3 years of experience in the field of gymnastics through personal participation or instruction
Experience training competitive gymnastics preferred; general knowledge of gymnastics required
Experience working with or teaching youth gymnastics preferred; interest in learning to work with or teach youth gymnastics required
CPR and First Aid certifications must be current within 30 days of hire
Ability to move equipment; must have the strength to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 90 pounds
Able to observe and evaluate activities from up to 30 yards away in an indoor gym setting

Responsibilities

Acts as a positive, self-confident role model for YMCA Gymnastics class participants
Maintains a professional demeanor and a safe and effective learning environment appropriate for children at all times
Teaches the three YMCA Gymnastics Recreational–Competitive Classes which are focused on Women’s Artistic Gymnastics [Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced]
Willing to learn teaching techniques/drills/hand spotting for all the class curriculums
Creates and implements lesson plans and rotation schedules for classes
Monitor Gymnastics Instructor Aides when in the Gymnastics Center
Assists with equipment maintenance, including cleaning and advises Head Coach of equipment needs and repairs
Performs other assigned duties as directed by the Supervisor
