About the position

Performs intermediate semiskilled work instructing individuals and groups in a variety of gymnastic skills, drills and movements; does related work as required. Duties are performed under general supervision of the Recreation Programmer III. The hiring salary for this position is $15.13/hour to $20.81/hour based on experience. The full salary range for this position is $15.13/hour to $26.48/hour to provide opportunity for growth and development.

Responsibilities

• Prepares and instructs gymnastics classes; trains aides; supervises programs
• Instructs level appropriate gymnastics skills for recreation gymnastics and/or ninja classes, birthday parties, and special events
• Trains gymnasts in strength, flexibility, balance, endurance, and coordination
• Supervises assigned area of facility
• Interprets program curriculum orally and visually to students and parents
• Ensures that safety precautions are observed in all activities
• Reports to Recreation Programmer III orally and in writing on activities, groups or individuals, plans or problems
• Uses correct spotting techniques
• Performs related work as required

Requirements

• General knowledge of gymnastics equipment and skills
• General knowledge of individual organization, principles, techniques, and methods used in gymnastics
• General knowledge of child behavior and coaching techniques
• Ability to ask questions and communicate effectively to children
• Ability to communicate well, verbally and in writing
