About The Position

Responsible for planning and instructing programs of competitive and non-competitive gymnastics designed to meet the needs of the community. Performs related duties as required.

Requirements

  • Three years’ experience as a gymnast including at least 2 years of USA Gymnastics or N.C.A.A. recognized competition is required.
  • Professional membership in USA Gymnastics must be obtained within 60 days of employment.
  • Valid USA Gymnastics Safety Certification within 60 days of employment.
  • Safe Sport certification within 60 days of employment.
  • Must be able to physically assist/physically support athletes who are 30-100 lbs.
  • Must be able to move equipment and mats between 5-60 lbs.
  • Knowledge of rules, regulations and practices of USA Gymnastics.
  • Knowledge of gymnastic exercises, events and tricks prescribed by USA Gymnastics.
  • Knowledge of tumbling and floor exercises for men’s and women’s events.
  • Effective teaching and coaching skills.

Nice To Haves

  • At least 1 year of gymnastic coaching experience.

Responsibilities

  • Develops course curriculum.
  • Instructs patrons in artistic gymnastics using varied gymnastic equipment.
  • Program responsibilities include but are not limited to events prescribed by USA Gymnastics.
  • Instructs men and women in individual gymnastic skills including pommel horse, rings, vault, parallel bars, horizontal bar, balance beam, tumbling and floor exercise.
  • Coaches and instructs pre-school and recreational gymnastics program.
  • Responsible for instructing and coaching all competitive gymnastic events including apparatus and floor exercises, compulsory and optional routines at all levels of USA Gymnastics.
  • Organizes and supervises gymnastic teams at various proficiency levels.
  • Hosts, schedules, and organizes competitive tournaments and non-competitive activities.
  • Promotes events, programs and classes.
  • Judges all levels of competition at the recreation level.
  • Helps ensure availability and safety of equipment and facilities.
  • Performs clerical tasks including course registration, fee collection, equipment inventory and record keeping.
