About The Position

Responsible for leading and directing a structured, educational and recreational youth gymnastics program for children. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS include the following, other duties may be assigned: Ensure the reliability and safety of the gymnastics program. Create and apply weekly instructional plans. Provide proper instruction; demonstrate/spot skills based on class level. Supervise all activities closely. Ensure complete understanding of the training and background of each student including his/her limitations. Maintain effective and timely communication with staff and parents regarding program news, changes, illnesses and other necessary information. Set up and tear down equipment as needed. Distribute certificates upon completion of the session. Maintain accurate records, including but not limited to: attendance sheets, progress reports, accident/incident records. Facilitate gymnastics birthday parties, as needed/scheduled. Maintain updated knowledge of proper techniques and progressions. Check equipment for safety purposes, prior to class. Notify supervisor of any repair or safety issues. Attend all staff meetings, trainings, and in-house clinics as scheduled. Child Protection Responsibilities: Adheres to policies related to boundaries with youth. Participates in required abuse risk management training. Adheres to procedures related to managing high-risk activities and supervising youth. Reports suspicious or inappropriate behaviors and policy violations. Follows mandated abuse reporting requirements.

Requirements

  • At least 16 years of age required
  • At least 6 month experience working with children
  • Ability to communicate effectively (verbal, written and interpersonal)
  • Working knowledge, understanding and skills in gymnastics instruction and age appropriate skill development
  • Ability to obtain and maintain First Aid, CPR, and AED certification.
  • Ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment.

Nice To Haves

  • 2 years of instructing gymnastics preferred.
