About The Position

Overview The Gymnastics Inclusion Coach is responsible to help f acil itate , promote, and implement inclusion of participants into programs. The Coach will l ead others into the commitment of building an inclusive community. For information on Y Employee Perks, click on this link: Employee Benefits | YMCA of San Diego County (ymcasd.org) Schedule Location: Cameron Family YMCA Available shift times: Monday - Friday: afternoons 3:00pm - 7:30pm Saturday mornings Responsibilities Ensure safety and well-being of participants Help facilitate inclusion of participant into a gymnastics class Work individually with a participant with special needs Provide continual supervision and comfort to participants and serve as a leader and positive role model Facilitate activities, academic enrichment, games, crafts and other program activities Create an age-appropriate learning environment, which allows for and fosters creativity and individuality Communicate with parents regarding participant progress and behaviors Prepare creative and fun lesson plans and session outlines prior to each class Encourage positive social skills and appropriate behavior Ensure safety and well-being of participants Show enthusiasm, leadership, fairness, and fun through coaching style Knowledge of PC application software Ability to interpret, document and communicate support related issues Excellent organizational, planning, and prioritizing skills Ability to be flexible and work on multiple projects simultaneously Ability to motivate and train staff and volunteers Excellent verbal and written communication skills Ability to persuasively present the mission and goals of the YMCA of San Diego County Other duties as assigned Qualifications High school diploma or GED 3+ years’ experience working with children with special needs 1+ year's advanced experience working with participants with special needs/social-emotional/behavior support needs for ages 0-12 years old Licensing, state law and our government funders require that staff within YMCA of San Diego County be fingerprinted, prior to reporting to work, and include subsequent arrest notifications CPR/AED, and First Aid Certification, must include Adult and Child/Infant, obtained within 30 days of hire and must be from one of the following certifying organizations: American Red Cross American Heart Association American Safety & Health Institute YMCA will consider qualified applicants with a criminal history pursuant to the San Diego County Fair Chance Ordinance and the California Fair Chance Act. You do not need to disclose your criminal history or participate in a background check until a conditional job offer is made to you. Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 3+ years’ experience working with children with special needs
  • 1+ year's advanced experience working with participants with special needs/social-emotional/behavior support needs for ages 0-12 years old
