About The Position

Hawthorn Farm Athletic Club in Hillsboro, Oregon, is seeking an Operations Manager to join the team. This is a hands-on role with a leadership emphasis on busy evening and weekend hours. The OM is a key team member who will oversee customer service, staff training and scheduling, safety, cleanliness, equipment, and related tasks to deliver an amazing club experience for HFAC members of all ages. Other members of HFAC's dedicated leadership team are in programming, business administration, sales and marketing, and facility maintenance. We're seeking to complement existing strengths with someone with a passion for the employee and customer-facing sides of the business, who likes to stay busy, and who is able to work closing shifts. The base schedule will include overseeing Club closing several days a week. This would mean and end time of 9:30 pm Mon,Tu, We or Thurs, 8:30 pm Friday, and 6:30pm if working Saturdays or Sundays. There is some ability to be flexible on the start of shifts and shift length. This is coordinated at a leader team level so there is always a Manager on Duty. Requirements

  • Knowledge of the Customer Service Industry.
  • Experience training or educating others in standardized protocols.
  • Must be able to adjust and operate fitness equipment; training available.
  • Strong interpersonal & communication skills.
  • Able to generate, maintain & demonstrate a friendly, enthusiastic & positive attitude.
  • Possesses a strong client service focus.
  • Responds professionally to requests and inquiries from guests, members, and staff.
  • Leadership skills.
  • High School Diploma or GED required, Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
  • Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), First Aid, and Automated External Defibrillator (AED) from an approved organization within 30 days of hire.
  • Due to the nature of our business, all HFAC employees must be able to actively participate in any safety procedures, such as calling 911, assisting in a building evacuation, and otherwise responding to an emergency situation.
  • This position must also have the following: Ability to work in the club office; move about the club floors and rooms; review, revise, create club paperwork; communicate with employees, members, and the public.
  • Regularly required to lift up to 50 pounds.

Nice To Haves

  • 2+ years in the fitness industry.
  • Prior leadership experience in the retail/hospitality industry, leading 5+ employees.
  • Budget Management experience.

  • Responsible for / overseeing the closing and presentation of the Club.
  • Is a key communication liaison, facilitating communication between colleagues, members, and ownership. departments, employees, and members.
