The Gun Vault Specialist is responsible for the backroom maintenance of all processes pertaining to Firearms, including safe handling and adherence to all company, state, and federal regulations. This role involves acquiring and disposing of firearms, maintaining the integrity of the ATF required ARMS system, and ensuring a complete, thorough, and accurate firearms inventory. The specialist also provides counter sales and customer service for firearms, as well as floor and counter sales for other hunting merchandise. Key duties include greeting customers, handling merchandise with care, and providing information and assistance. The position requires physically and systematically receiving and acquiring incoming firearms using ARMS daily, verifying gun accuracy, and disposing of firearms shipped/transferred to licensed dealers or stores, verifying disposition data. Monthly firearms audits are conducted, and proper completion of ATF and state forms for background checks is essential to certify and screen potential firearm transfers, comply with waiting periods, and prevent straw purchases. The specialist participates in ongoing training on firearms, shooting products, systems, compliance, and selling skills. They ensure all firearms are acquired and disposed of safely, complete company forms, properly store, locate, clean, and prepare firearms for retail sale, replenish firearms to the sales floor, package and ship firearms according to regulations, and safely check/clearing firearms. Maintaining a clean, neat, and well-stocked work area is also required. The role supports world-class customer service, assisting customers in buying decisions by identifying needs, making recommendations, and promoting programs like CLUB membership, VOC, and in-store pickup. They demonstrate products, organize and maintain firearms for sales, assure visual standards, maintain cleanliness, set and maintain ads, replenish products, assist with seasonal merchandise moves, respond to ATF/State Firearm Trace Requests, and assist with training store outfitters. The specialist is expected to be a product expert and follow all company policies and procedures.
