Position Overview: Runs chopper gun to lay down resin and fiberglass used in construction of hull, deck and small parts; maintains constant laminate thickness as per engineering specs Controls labor and parts flow in designated area. Requirements

  • A minimum of 6 months to 1 year of fiberglass lamination instruction experience required, 3 years preferred
  • Ability to work with coworkers in close proximity and in a team environment displaying mutual respect
  • Ability to fluently speak, read, write, and understand English
  • Must possess the desire and ambition to work safely at all times and report all hazards to their Supervisor immediately
  • Must understand basic terminology such as OSHA, DEP, and other regulatory agencies
  • Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment where designated, including but not limited to safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, etc.
  • Must be able to understand and complete the OSHA questionnaire, pass spirometer test, and physically wear a respirator where required
  • Must be able to physically handle the requirements of the job, including lifting, bending, climbing stairs, spending working hours on your feet, etc.
  • Must be able to understand all safety related documents and worksite rules and practices, equipment operating instructions, documented safety management systems, and health and safety requirements, including the General Safety Rules and Individual Safety Commitment

Responsibilities

  • Sprays routine mix and lay-up of composite materials, fiberglass, resins, and catalysts onto mold surface using a chop gun.
  • Performs elementary and routine mix and lay-up of composite materials, fiberglass, resins, and catalysts onto mold surface using various hand tools.
  • Maintains proper millage on parts
  • Utilization of open mold and vacuum infusion processes.
  • Works with various resins, gelcoats, fiberglass materials, foam, and structural adhesives.
  • Installs wood and other components into fiberglass hulls, decks, and small part molds.
  • Operates a variety of power tools including but not limited to saws, drills, grinders, and overhead hoists.
  • Locates parts by hand or by utilizing detailed blueprints, work instructions, tools, and/or fixtures.
  • Sanding of fiberglass hulls, decks, and small part molds.
  • Assist with rolling glass when needed.
  • Ability to Audit departmental work areas
  • Ability to maintain and adjust resin guns and pumps
