This role will be filled in a hybrid capacity, with collaboration taking place in one of our office locations in Columbus, OH, Scottsdale, AZ, or Des Moines, IA. Guidewire Software Engineer (Specialist, Software Engineer) This role supports the PLS Sales and Servicing Value Stream. The Sales and Servicing team is experiencing growth, with a focus on the agent and member facing experience. This role will be responsible for providing solutions that are leveraging current digital and cloud native technologies for our Auto, Property, and Umbrella product offerings at Nationwide P&C You will have the opportunity to join an amazing team and organization that continually pushes the boundaries of how we deliver code and business. As a Software Engineer, you will focus primarily on providing high quality, efficient technology solutions to business partners by crafting new software applications or modifying and/or supporting existing packaged or custom-built applications. In this capacity, you’ll analyze, code, configure, test, debug, document and maintain applications.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience working with Guidewire products, specifically Guidewire Policy Center Version 10+
  • Experience with unit testing, code coverage, and best practices.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Understanding of RESTful APIs.
  • Understanding of Kafka and Microservices.
  • Monitoring using NewRelic and Splunk.
  • Understanding of SQL databases, with the ability to write queries.
  • Understanding of DevOps, cloud concepts, and Agile methodologies.
  • Ability to provide guidance to the team and mentor junior developers.
  • Completion of undergraduate studies in computer science, management information systems, or other related degree. Technology experience or non-traditional technology certificates can be substituted for an undergraduate degree.
  • Four or more years of analysis and technology experience.
  • Proficiency in one or more programming language such as Java, C++, Python, JavaScript.
  • Strong knowledge of software development lifecycle.
  • Proven ability to tackle complex business and development problems.
  • Ability to thrive in a team environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with IIBv10 Aggregation, Message Flows, Message Maps, and ESQL is a huge plus.
  • Insurance experience is a plus.
  • Insurance/financial services industry knowledge a plus.
  • Other criteria, including leadership skills, competencies and experiences may take precedence.
