About The Position

As an Amentum Space Exploration Division (ASED) intern, you will work alongside engineers and scientists on hardware development, payload integration & operations, laboratory & test operations, modeling & simulation, space environments, scientific research and propulsion systems for programs like Human Landing Systems, Space Launch Systems and the International Space Station! The Amentum Space Exploration Division (ASED) Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GN&C) team is looking for summer interns! A Prime Contractor at NASA Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Ala. since 1989, Amentum has supported many marquee NASA programs, including the Space Launch System (SLS) and the International Space Station. We work collaboratively with the NASA customer in an integrated environment to provide GN&C system design, analysis, and integration support for applications including satellites, lunar landers, and launch vehicles. Duties Typical responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:

Requirements

  • Undergraduate or graduate student currently enrolled in science, technical, engineering, math or related degree program leading to a BS or MS degree at an ABET accredited institution.
  • Must be able to provide own transportation.
  • Possess strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Have the ability to multi-task and transition between assignments
  • Show initiative, be proactive and detail oriented
  • Work independently and collaboratively
  • Have completed sophomore year of university studies and be in good academic standing
  • Maintain an overall average of 3.0
  • Demonstrate strong technical aptitude
  • Familiarity with typical software lifecycle documentation and compliance
  • Proof of U.S. Citizenship is required.

Responsibilities

  • Model, simulate, and analyze vehicle and spacecraft dynamics
  • Develop and optimize workflows to improve efficiency
  • Develop, modify, and maintain software simulators, tools, and scripts
  • Create, edit, and debug software written in C++/Python/Matlab
  • Support verification and validation of technical products
  • Prepare and present technical reports and/or briefings
  • Create and review engineering and software documentation
