About The Position

Utah’s Hogle Zoo is a conservation-based non-profit organization located in Salt Lake City, UT. As a member of our Guest Services team, you would help us advance our mission of creating champions for wildlife by providing superior customer service to all of our members and guests.

Requirements

  • Customer service-oriented individuals with previous experience.
  • Individuals comfortable starting conversations with guests.
  • Previous cash handling experience.
  • Individuals who remain positive and professional in stressful situations.
  • Individuals with dedication to conservation and the zoo’s mission statement.
  • Employment is considered variable/non-beneficial. Employees must be available for at least four 7-8-hour shifts a week. Variable hours can be between 15 and 40 hours per week but must not exceed an annual average of 30 hours per week.
  • Weekend availability is preferred.
  • Starting pay for the position is $14.50/hr
  • Frequent standing at guest entry/exit points.
  • Regular exposure to outdoor weather conditions year-round.
  • Occasionally lift or move up to 25 pounds and rarely lift or move up to 50 pounds.

  • The position will be posted in January. Application review will begin in February. Phone interviews will be scheduled throughout February. Decisions will be made the first week of March.

Responsibilities

  • Create genuine moments with our visitors every day throughout the Zoo.
  • Check in and welcome guests to the zoo.
  • Sell tickets for admission to the zoo, train, carousel, and animal feeds.
  • Ensure all rides operate properly and address/resolve any issues as they arise.
  • Assist with various projects/activities for the Guest Services department.
  • Maintain a thorough knowledge of the Hogle Zoo and our animals.
