About The Position

St. Jude's Guest Services team is looking for our next colleague! This is a part-time position (24 hours)/week, and it does involve some driving of a St. Jude vehicle. A good motor vehicle record and insurability are required for this role. This role will support St. Jude's Temporary Guest Housing program for non-patient housing. This program provides lodging for students, interns, postdocs, visiting scientists, and new hires. Schedule: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday 9:00 am - 3:30 pm

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • One year of applicable experience in a service-oriented, customer-focused environment.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license from the employee’s state of residence and a valid insurance policy on the vehicle which meets the requirements for the state of Tennessee.
  • The employee must move about the workspace to access work surface and shelves, cabinets, drawers, and equipment that are at, below, or above the work surface.

Responsibilities

  • Drive to and from housing facilities near campus, on campus, and to assigned work areas.
  • Make lodging reservations.
  • Answer calls and emails related to the Temporary Guest Housing program.
  • Create welcome packets for guests and visitors.
  • Assist with apartment inspections and ensure accommodations are ready.
  • Invoice non-patient guests for monthly rent.
  • Assists residents with facility-related needs or housing requests to ensure a comfortable, peaceful, and healthy environment.
  • Some driving to and from housing locations and on and near campus.
  • Controls access into the house and works with security as needed.
  • Answers inquiries pertaining to guest services and provides shopping, dining, entertainment, and travel directions.
  • Dates and signs all shift reports.
  • Organizes, maintains inventory, and ensures housing is ready to open.
  • Maintains a neat appearance and restocks supplies.
  • Manages phone activity, including answering the telephones and taking accurate, complete, and timely messages, and providing general knowledge to the caller.
  • Receives, logs, and distributes medical deliveries and personal packages to families as necessary.
  • Submit monthly guest count, provides St. Jude staff with regular updates on family and guest arrivals and departures from the property, and updates the PMS systems to reflect the most current census
  • Enforces policies of the house/designated area with patients and families.
  • Handles emergencies and other situations that occur in the house/designated area.
  • Assists in de-escalating situations that arise among patient family problems.
  • Works directly with House Manager on problem-solving with family incidents, problems or concerns that arise at the Front Desk.
  • Make housing reservations and scheduling ground transportation.
  • Handle special arrival and departure requests.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned or directed to meet the goals and objectives of the department.
  • Maintains regular and predictable attendance.
