About The Position

The Guest Services Associate at the Nevada Northern Railway Museum is responsible for providing a welcoming experience to museum visitors and ensuring smooth day-to-day operations. This full-time, hourly position involves various tasks including retail management, customer interaction, guiding tours, and engaging with social media, all under the supervision of the Guest Services Manager.

Requirements

• High School diploma or GED.
• Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
• Willingness to be trained in office practices and procedures, including business correspondence, record keeping, and filing systems.
• Ability to use cash registers, computers, and required software applications.
• Ability to perform administrative tasks with organization and accuracy.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and apply appropriate rules and regulations.
• Ability to communicate effectively with the public and develop clear correspondence.
• Ability to lift thirty pounds and perform physical activities related to the job.

Nice To Haves

• Knowledge of eBay is desirable.
• Experience in social media management.

Responsibilities

• Work in the Gift Shop, Ticket Office, Concessions, and on the Excursion Train dealing with customers, selling and handling money.
• Count and balance all monies from the gift shop and ticket office when assigned.
• Assist in the sales of tickets and reservations, answer the phone, direct calls, and take messages.
• Manage social media programs, respond to posts and emails.
• Understand the use of two-way radios.
• Work on excursion and specialty trains as directed.
• Ship items for customers using UPS and USPS.
• Organize and clean racks, fixtures, and displays in the gift shop and on the train.
• Assist in the maintenance of the web-based gift shop.
• Work on the train as a crew member, i.e., narrator, concessionaire, or server.
• Assist in cleaning guest areas, the train, caboose, and Bunkhouse.
• Operate speeders and give tours of the museum.
• Serve alcoholic beverages as required.
• Give tours of the grounds, narration on the train, and astro-tourism programs.
• Perform any other duties as required by the Guest Services Manager.
