About The Position

The Guest Services Associate at the Scott Family Amazeum provides excellent service to all guests, ensuring a positive, fun, safe, and memorable experience. This part-time position involves welcoming guests, informing them about museum experiences and programs, and selling tickets and memberships. The ideal candidate will have a passion for powerful guest experiences and enjoy working with people of all ages and backgrounds. The Amazeum is a hands-on, interactive museum in Northwest Arkansas, recognized as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, dedicated to sparking and nurturing the curious and creative spirit in all individuals.

Requirements

  • 16+ years of age at the time of hire.
  • High School diploma or GED OR working towards one.
  • Good command of general computer applications and basic math skills.
  • Ability to lean into new technology as assigned.
  • Ability to be punctual.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • All applicants must be able to provide the necessary documentation to prove that they are a U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or a foreign national with authorization to work in the United States.
  • Complete and pass a background check.

Nice To Haves

  • Availability to work both Saturday and Sunday as a permanent shift.
  • 6+ months of cashier service experience.
  • 6+ months of customer service experience.
  • Availability to work on Wednesday evenings.
  • Experience with point of sale systems and/or databases.
  • Bilingual.

Responsibilities

  • Provide excellent customer service for Amazeum guests, members, donors, and museum staff in-person and over the phone.
  • Proactively and warmly welcome guests, respond to questions, and offer guidance.
  • Exhibit critical thinking skills by anticipating guest and member issues and proactively take ownership to solve issues and address needs.
  • Relay information to guests about current and future Amazeum programs.
  • Effectively operate ticketing system in accordance with established procedures, selling daily and advance admission and memberships.
  • Validate membership cards and pre-purchased tickets for admission.
  • Accurately process cash, check, and credit card transactions, balancing their own cash drawer at the end of each shift.
  • Actively promote membership, sign up new and renewing members, and troubleshoot common membership issues including lost cards, contact information updates, and upgrades.
  • Return phone calls as necessary to resolve outstanding questions.
  • Assist with procedures including, but not limited to, lost and found items, injuries, and lost guests.
  • Facilitate welcome spiels and check-in birthday celebrations as well as field trip and group visits.
  • Perform routine office tasks as needed (e.g., separating coupons, filing, copying, data entry, etc.).
  • Maintain a continuous lookout for safety hazards, assisting with evacuations and procedures if required in case of an emergency.
  • Communicate and work in a team manner with coworkers to ensure a smooth operation.
  • Maintain appearance and functionality of workstations, guest queues, ticketing areas, and related spaces, ensuring that all materials and information displayed are current and well stocked.
  • Conduct light daily cleaning tasks to maintain a clean and safe experience.
  • Work in the museum store, Curiosity Corner, as needed, processing store transactions, stocking inventory, and tidying displays.
  • Establish and maintain collaborative interdepartmental relationships.
  • Assist with Guest Services oriented tasks during special events.
  • Work extended schedule during peak periods as needed.
  • Represent the Amazeum in a professional manner at all times including adherence to department standards.
  • Perform additional duties as required.

Benefits

  • $12.00 hourly rate.
  • Part-time position with 15-20 hours a week.
