The Guest Relations Representative Temp FT position exists to perform diversified functions associated with representing FOF to guests/constituents that visit the ministry through hospitality, greeting, providing information, and operating appropriate Guest Relations stations. Requires occasional supervision and refers only specific, unusual problems to supervisor.

  • Is a consistent witness for Jesus Christ; maintains a courteous, Christ-like attitude in dealing with people within and outside of Focus; adheres to the Standard of Moral Conduct and Statement of Faith; upholds Focus on the Family's ministry in prayer
  • Prays personally for Focus on the Family’s staff and constituents and may occasionally lead in a public prayer

  • High school diploma, plus additional courses equivalent to one year of college; confrontation training desirable
  • 2-3 years of experience in dealing with the public
  • In depth knowledge of FOF mission, philosophy, values, and objectives
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with all levels and types of individuals
  • Ability to memorize and retain numerous facts, scripts, and information pertinent to position
  • Ability to maintain listener's interest and flow from one topic to another during presentations
  • Must have a neat appearance, dress professionally and be able to represent the company in a professional manner
  • Excellent written communication skills for preparing correspondence to guests and constituents
  • Polished speaking skills and excellent grammar/ clarity of expression, good organization of thoughts and effective articulation
  • Ability to handle stress of constantly changing priorities and demands
  • Ability to apply logic, rational thinking, intuition, and discernment in innovative ways to analyze situations, solve problems and make decisions

Responsibilities

  • Greets and assists guests which may include providing information, directing visitors for tours, broadcast tapings or appointments, and booking special tours or birthday parties
  • Ministers to guests/visitors one on one or in a group
  • Attends to needs of guests as appropriate including administrative tasks at one of the department reception stations
  • Is first security point for concerns or threatening situations to staff or guests. Enforces and implements security/safety procedures
  • Operates Welcome Center including theater, shuttle, upkeep of Gallery, and other stations as necessary
  • Conducts hour long walking presentations and answers questions concerning the work of Focus on the Family, its history, and goals
  • Monitors flow of traffic, activities, and performs special duties pertaining to KYDS Radio, Kid’s Korner & Discovery Emporium
  • Assists in short or long-term projects as assigned by supervisor, such as annual cleaning, maintenance, and repair of Whit’s End
  • Stocks magazines and other complementary materials/resources for guests
  • May staff Whit’s End Soda Shoppe and assist with various duties
  • May collect social media content (i.e., stories, texts, pictures, video, etc.) for ministry use
  • May brief broadcast taping audience with instructions for participation
  • Serves as a floater to fill whatever position is needed
  • May engage with guests while wearing one of the various character costumes
  • Performs other duties as assigned
