About The Position

The Guest Experience Specialist at the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum (ALPLM) is responsible for enhancing visitor engagement and ensuring a stellar experience for patrons. This role involves leading lower-level staff, managing group reservations, and serving as a primary contact for community groups and tourism partners. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership and customer service skills, contributing to the mission of preserving and sharing Illinois history and the legacy of Abraham Lincoln.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED with two years of secretarial/business college and one year of office experience, or three years of office experience or independent business experience.
• Working knowledge of office methods and procedures, practices, and work principles.
• Ability to organize, plan, and schedule work effectively.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to prepare and review management reports.
• Proficiency in utilizing various agency databases and computer hardware/software programs.
• Ability to evaluate facts, data, and information logically to arrive at sound decisions.

Nice To Haves

• Working knowledge of the functions, goals, and objectives of the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum.
• Skill to keyboard/type accurately at an established minimum rate.
• Ability to receive, understand, and follow verbal and/or written instructions.

Responsibilities

• Serve as lead worker to lower-level staff under direct supervision.
• Act as primary contact for community groups and tourism partners for group reservations.
• Utilize software systems to manage account transactions and obtain financial reports.
• Perform various sales transactions and process refunds/void transactions in the ticketing system.
• Communicate with visitors throughout their customer journey.
• Develop, promote, execute, and report on assigned programs.
• Perform other duties as required or assigned.
