GUEST EXPERIENCE INTERN
About The Position
Guest Experience is DC Central Kitchen's newest department! After relocating to the Michael R. Klein Center for Jobs and Justice, DC Central Kitchen re-launched its indoor Volunteer Program on April 1, 2023, for the first time since the COVID-19 Pandemic. Being in a new space, and welcoming a higher volume of volunteers, DC Central Kitchen developed the Guest Experience department which oversees all Volunteer Engagement, in addition to facility tours, meetings, events, and much more. The objective of this internship is to Observe the current Volunteer Engagement structure, Assist with Community Outreach promoting volunteer opportunities, Identify potential opportunities for growth, and Develop a solution that can likely be implemented by DC Central Kitchen.
Requirements
- An understanding of how DCCK uses the Volunteer Program to assist with reaching our 'Big Audacious Goals."
- Develop professional connections and administrative skills and identify a strategy for maintaining those connections/skills.
- Observe our current Volunteer Program structure and identify potential opportunities for improvements and/or enhancements.
- After observing potential opportunities for growth, one focus area will be selected to develop a solution/plan detailing how to implement and execute, and how this will improve our Volunteer Program overall.
- Participation in Book Club Reading and Discussion
- Reflection on the internship experiences in Student Assessment, including: O Ability to articulate what was learned and how it will apply to your professional career goals.
- Identification of professions that may be of interest because of this experience.
- Identification of the opportunities identified early on, and the decision-making process behind curating a solution for DCCK to implement in its everyday work.
- Adheres to professional work standards including regular attendance, punctuality, working within agreed upon hours, wearing appropriate attire as stated by the organization, and abiding by all code of conduct policies
- Completion of agreed upon course assignments while meeting professional work obligations.
