About The Position

San Diego Humane Society is hiring part-time Guest Experience Associates for our San Diego team! What you’ll do: Provide exceptional service to every guest; including acknowledging guests as they enter or call SDHS, thanking them for coming to SDHS, determining their needs, answering questions related to our services, and working through their inquiry until resolution. Complete as many quality adoptions as possible by assisting guests in finding an appropriate match for their household and lifestyle while encouraging adopters to take advantage of our risk-free “Adoption Guarantee.” Check guests in and out for relinquishment, euthanasia and Community Spay and Neuter services. Check in stray animals brought in by the public and gather detailed information and assess stray cat’s eligibility for the Community Cat Program as needed. Cross-train and participate in all areas of the Guest Experience including but not limited to Adoptions, Admissions, Stray and Reclaim. What we’re looking for: High School Diploma or equivalent required. Minimum of one (1) year experience in customer/guest services required, 2 years preferred. Prior experience working with animals in a kennel, shelter or veterinary hospital preferred. Bilingual skills a plus, bilingual-Spanish preferred. Location & Hours: Based at our San Diego Campus. These positions work approximately 24-28 hours per week. A standard schedule includes Saturdays and Sundays, with Fridays typically required as well. Pay: Starting range is between $20.75 – $22.25 per hour and is eligible for an hourly bilingual-Spanish premium. The listed hiring range for this position depicts the target range of pay rates for candidates. The maximum of the hiring range is reserved for candidates with the highest qualifications and relevant experience. Compensation for internal candidates may increase beyond the listed range based on performance over time. For all candidates, the actual starting pay rate is determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to your years of related education and experience, internal pay equity, and position location. Growth is based on time worked in your SDHS Guest Experience Associate role and meeting other training and performance requirements – everyone can advance once they meet the requirements! Advancing levels is recognized through a title change and pay increase.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of one (1) year experience in customer/guest services required, 2 years preferred.
