About The Position

The Spring is a faith-based service provider, shelter, and advocacy organization for survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking, and human trafficking. We offer a safe home and supportive services that assist survivors and their children on their journey out of abuse. The Guest Advocate is responsible for carrying assigned caseload and assisting victim/survivors of domestic and sexual violence, human trafficking and stalking within the shelter program through advocacy, case management services, providing referrals and resources specific to guests. Assist with the daily operations of the shelter, including intake and care of guests, ensuring smooth execution of routine responsibilities and procedures and supporting staff and volunteers.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Must be able to sign The Spring's Statement of Faith
  • Must have valid Oklahoma driver's license
  • Ability to work an occasional night and weekend shift as required
  • Willing and able to develop relationships with guests and their children within professional boundaries
  • Commitment to maintaining client confidentiality and ethical standards
  • Willing and able to work both independently and as a team member
  • Computer experience required. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Maintain boundaries, both professional and personal
  • Must be able to pass a 7-year background check.
  • Any job offer will be based on the results of the background testing.
  • A felony does not automatically exclude you from consideration.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate or Bachelor's degree in social work, counseling, psychology or related field preferred
  • Experience in domestic violence or sexual assault field, volunteer experience or related experience is suggested
  • Able to successfully handle multiple demands and perform effectively despite changing priorities
  • One year experience in social services preferred

Responsibilities

  • Manage caseload of participants/and families, partnering with each to identify goals, develop plans, and coordinate access to appropriate services and resources for successful completion of program
  • Answer calls on the crisis line and provide crisis intervention information, safety planning and advocacy to caller; complete required intake documentation
  • Assist with daily operations and upkeep of the shelter to ensure safe and welcoming environment for guests, volunteers and staff.
  • Deliver trauma informed crisis intervention services, offer immediate support, respond promptly to crisis situations, and connect guests to appropriate resources as needed
  • Familiarize guests and their children with the shelter and ensure their initial needs are met
  • Document/chart all information regarding crisis calls and direct services as required by policy and procedure
  • Advocate with community resources to enhance continuity, accessibility, and accountability of services
  • Assist in creating a positive cultural environment of personal leadership, communication and teamwork within the shelter and throughout the organization
  • Be available for emergencies and respond appropriately
