About The Position

Schedule: Monday-Friday 3pm-11p Compensation: $17 per hour, $1 shift differential ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/DUTIES: Control and monitor all access points, verifying compliance and documentation for deliveries and outbounds. Be aware of and familiar with the Standard Operating Procedures and comply with all therein. Escalate and report any and all safety concerns, security breaches, and unusual circumstances both verbally and in writing to the appropriate contact. Successful completion of security training and location-specific training as required (i.e., Yard Management System, US Customs-Trade Partnership Against Terrorism (CTPAT), Code of Ethics, etc.), and participate in additional quarterly training programs as needed. Update the Yard Management System (ie TrackX, Dynamic Yard, etc) as required. Strictly enforce applicable CTPAT, access control, asset protection, loss prevention, receiving, and proper attire policies and procedures for employees and visitors entering and exiting the location, as requested. Greet and assist visitors and employees in a friendly, welcoming, and professional manner. Verify the identity of all visitors and inquire about their reason or purpose for the visit. Follow the Location-specific procedures for tracking and logging information for all visitors. Comply with the policy for approved forms of identification for employees and visitors. Ensure that all visitor passes and badge requests contain the necessary information and are accurately logged. Direct all visitors and deliveries to the appropriate destination (i.e., instruct driver where to drop the trailer in the yard and/or what dock door, direct trash collectors to their designated areas, etc.). If there is a backup of incoming trucks, ensure that they are not blocking the road and/or other businesses, and instruct them to move as necessary. Ensure that all necessary paperwork for GEA property removal from the Location is properly filled out and approved prior to any GEA property being removed from the Location. Be familiar with the policies and procedures regarding vehicle inspections and the appropriate escalation procedures (i.e., checking vehicles for unauthorized removal of GEA property). Be familiar with and comply with Location-specific inside parking procedures to verify and provide approval for such requests. Be familiar with and able to use the badging access control system, including, but not limited to, creating, deleting, and/or suspending badges, to include temporary badges, visitor badges, and contractor badges. Be familiar with the Location’s lost badge policy and the enforcement procedures. Monitor the CCTV/security camera system for any signs of safety concerns, security breaches, and unusual circumstances and escalate as necessary. Be familiar with and able to use the employee directory system. For site key requests, verify the requestor’s identity and log the assignment of all site keys. Assist employees with access to secured locations. If applicable, be familiar with the location’s policies and procedures regarding building entry processes. Be familiar with and comply with the Location’s policies and procedures for GEA employee food delivery requests. Understand the radio operations and procedures, including, but not limited to responding to and logging transmissions, panic alarm radio process, and crisis alert radio process. Be familiar with and comply with all emergency procedures, including, but not limited to medical, fire, evacuation, take cover, and weather emergency procedures. Be familiar with and comply with EHS policies and procedures. Maintain activity logs and ensure the notes are passed along to the next Security Personnel on duty. Conduct roving patrols as requested. This includes, but is not limited to reviewing emergency checklists, logging notes, communicating with dispatch, etc. Escort Emergency Services (i.e., law enforcement, emergency medical services, fire and rescue services, etc.) to the appropriate destination. Working conditions include sitting and standing for long periods of time, working within covered guard shack, and being outside Occasionally required to work during inclement weather, rain, snow, sleet, etc. Work may require occasional holiday, weekend, and/or evening work

  • High School graduate or General Education Degree (GED) preferred.
  • Proven experience as a gate attendant, security officer, or a similar role. Preferably in a distribution or manufacturing environment.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Willing to listen and learn new skills and ways of working.
  • Basic computer skills, including familiarity with MS Office.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience utilizing camera systems preferred.
  • CPR and First Aid Certification from an accredited organization preferred.
