Your role will be vital in contributing to the new product development pipeline and will help to improve the existing product portfolio. This role will lead a team to deliver package design and development for our Global Technical Operations (GTO) team with focus on our Wound Closure platform. This includes business initiatives for product innovations, life cycle product upgrades, and well as quality and customer relevant innovation and sustainability.

Requirements

  • Package Engineering Degree (OR a degree in an engineering or scientific field e.g., Mechanical, Chemical, Biomedical Engineering). An MBA and/or relevant working experience will be considered in lieu of a Bachelor's Degree.
  • Requires 8+ years of work experience including 5+ years of people management.
  • Experience with new product development and commercialization of products in a regulated industry
  • Experience as a package development engineer OR a strong understanding of the package development process and responsibilities
  • Proficiency in computers and technology including Microsoft Office applications
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills
  • People Leadership experience

Nice To Haves

  • Experience within the Medical Device and/or Pharmaceutical industries
  • Experience working with medical device package development
  • Knowledge of Package Assembly and Manufacturing processes
  • Knowledge of sterile barrier packaging systems and design verification including ASTM or ISTA test methods
  • Knowledge and experience with ISO11607

Responsibilities

  • Manage a team of package development engineers and technicians, assuring design and delivery of packaging systems supporting new and legacy product development team needs.
  • Assure delivery of robust, cost effective, fully compliant packaging solutions that meet current and evolving customers’ needs.
  • Provide strategic direction for organizational structure, people development, and improvement departmental processes in support of Surgery BU initiatives.
  • Lead and develop engineers by promoting a growth mindset and empowering individuals with accountability and fostering an environment of diversity and inclusion.
  • Promote and cultivate the highest standards of integrity, ethics, and compliance and actively supports our compliance program-related initiatives and activities.
  • Develop and grow talent within the team.
  • Build organizational capabilities in the areas of leadership, business sense, and technical skills.
  • Grow Technical competencies in packaging design, materials, equipment, and processes used in component and finished goods packaging processes.
