GTM Engineer

BasetenSan Francisco, CA

About The Position

Baseten powers mission-critical inference for the world's most dynamic AI companies, including Cursor, Notion, OpenEvidence, Abridge, Clay, Gamma, and Writer. The company unites applied AI research, flexible infrastructure, and seamless developer tooling to enable companies at the frontier of AI to bring cutting-edge models into production. Baseten is growing quickly, having recently raised a $300M Series E, backed by investors such as BOND, IVP, Spark Capital, Greylock, and Conviction. The GTM Engineer role is crucial for ensuring Baseten adapts and iterates quickly in the rapidly changing GTM tooling landscape. This position involves designing, building, and shipping AI-powered workflows to scale sales, marketing, and support functions, turning them into a competitive advantage. The ideal candidate will audit the existing sprawling tech stack, identify redundancies and gaps, and prioritize shipping solutions quickly. They should understand when to use low-code tools like Clay versus building custom solutions in Claude Code, thinking ahead about how current builds fit into the broader systems architecture, and bringing a strong point of view on the tech stack and the strategic application of AI.

Requirements

  • 3–5 years of startup experience with a focus on campaign management or integrated marketing.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multi-channel campaigns end-to-end with strong project management instincts.
  • Familiarity with modern marketing tech stacks (HubSpot, Clay, Apollo, etc.).
  • Strong analytical skills and comfort with campaign metrics and attribution. Excel mandatory. BI tool familiarity mandatory.
  • Sharp storytelling instincts — you know how to translate a product narrative into a campaign that lands with a technical audience.
  • Comfortable working autonomously in high-growth, early-stage environments.
  • Automation- and AI-native mindset; ability to leverage tools to move fast and scale impact.

Nice To Haves

  • Developer audience a plus.
  • SQL preferred, or a willingness to learn on the job.

Responsibilities

  • Own the CRM enrichment strategy — design and maintain the data foundation our GTM org runs on, spanning account and contact data quality, enrichment workflows, and data provider orchestration across our stack (Clay, Harmonic, Salesforce, and beyond)
  • Audit the stack and generate your own backlog — we have a lot of tools, some overlap, and real gaps. Walk in with a point of view, identify what's missing or broken, and prioritize accordingly — without waiting to be handed a roadmap
  • Ship rep productivity workflows fast — triage asks from the field, identify the low-hanging fruit, and build it. A good week looks like a VP of Sales asking for something Monday and having it live by Wednesday
  • Know when to go custom — not everything belongs in a point-and-click tool. You're comfortable spinning up bespoke AI-powered solutions in Claude Code or similar when the problem calls for it, and you make that call with judgment, not default
  • Think in systems, not solutions — every workflow you build has upstream and downstream implications. You anticipate them, design for them, and don't create technical debt that someone else has to unwind six months later
  • Integrate third-party APIs to sync events and information across disparate systems — ensuring data flows reliably between the tools your team depends on every day
  • Think long-term about stack consolidation — we have duplication and shadow IT across enrichment, routing, and engagement. Part of this role is helping us build toward a smaller, more intentional stack over time
  • Document what you build — if people can't find it, understand it, or trust it, it doesn't matter how well it works

Benefits

  • Competitive compensation, including meaningful equity.
  • 100% coverage of medical, dental, and vision insurance for employee and dependents
  • Flexible PTO policy including company wide Winter Break (our offices are closed from Christmas Eve to New Year's Day!)
  • Paid parental leave
  • Fertility and family-building stipend through Carrot
  • Company-facilitated 401(k)
  • Exposure to a variety of ML startups, offering unparalleled learning and networking opportunities.
