For more information, visit www.grainger.com. We are seeking a talented and motivated Applied Machine Learning Intern to join our team, working at the intersection of ML Engineering and Data Science. The ideal candidate will have a passion for discovering insights from data, eagerness to learn new technologies, excellent communication skills, the ability to work collaboratively, and a commitment to producing high-quality work. This role offers an exciting opportunity to conduct innovative research, develop cutting-edge machine learning models, and contribute to the productionization of ML solutions.

  • Conduct fundamental and innovative research in applied machine learning
  • Assist in the productionization of ML models and solutions when required
  • Formulate approaches to solve complex problems using well-defined algorithms and data sources
  • Perform data exploration to uncover new questions or opportunities within your problem area
  • Propose and evaluate the applicability and limitations of data in various contexts
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate ML solutions into existing systems
  • Majors in an area of computing, e.g., Computer Science or Applied Math
  • Has a strong foundation in ML, including transformer-based models
  • Can code in Python and SQL
  • Familiar with version control systems like Git
  • Currently enrolled in a graduate program (MS or PhD)
  • Expected to graduate in the year following the internship
  • Practical experience in Natural Language Processing (NLP) or Computer Vision (CV)
  • Has some industry experience
