What You Will Do: Pratt & Whitney’s Geared Turbofan (GTF) Commercial Aftermarket organization of its Commercial Engines business is seeking a Resident Center Manager (RCM) to support the maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) center for IHI. The GTF RCM serves as the primary liaison between Disassembly/Assembly/Test (DAT) facilities in the GTF MRO network and Pratt & Whitney / International Aero Engines. This role will be based in Tokyo, Japan at the Ishikawajima-Harima Heavy Industries, Ltd. (IHI) DAT engine center, and will support DAT operations at the site long-term. What You Will Learn: GTF Aftermarket operations – GTF engine disassembly/assembly/test processes, and network-wide technical challenges and optimization opportunities that impact engine overhaul and output External (“customer” / partner / supplier) focus – direct interaction with leadership and teams across 3rd party/airline DATs P&W Matrix management – interaction with leadership and teams across various commercial, operations, and engineering organizations

Requirements

  • Advanced Degree with 7+ years of experience in Operations, Engineering, Project Management and/or technical role within an Aftermarket MRO or Aerospace Manufacturing environment; OR Bachelor's Degree and 10+ years of relevant industry experience; OR Associate’s degree and 12+ years of relevant industry experience; OR High School diploma or Military / Technical Training and 14+ years of relevant industry experience.
  • Must have a valid US Passport and support travel demands to Japan
  • Ability to support relocation to Japan and support long-term DAT partnership

Nice To Haves

  • Degree in STEM field; Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering fields preferred.
  • FAA Airframe & Powerplant certificate (A&P license)
  • Working knowledge of MRO shop practices, quality standards, processes and procedures.
  • Advanced experience of turbine engine maintenance or repair station MRO operations ideally within an engine center Disassembly, Assembly and Test (DAT) environment.
  • Strong technical and functional knowledge of turbine engines and/or Pratt & Whitney products.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical data, blueprints, and engineering drawings.
  • Project management experience and ability to lead large, complex projects across different time zones.
  • Understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles, and continuous improvement tools (CORE/ACE/SixSigma, QCPC and RCCA).
  • Ability to communicate at all levels of the organization and influence leadership, peers, and cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

  • Monitoring and ensuring timely and accurate reporting of the status of engines undergoing maintenance at the DAT.
  • Facilitating resolution of issues that impact the DAT’s ability to complete maintenance activities according to standards and commitments.
  • Ensuring DAT’s compliance with GTF MRO Network policies and contract requirements.
  • Facilitating communication between the DAT and customers.
  • Verifying and quantifying DAT capabilities and capacity.
  • Preparing forecasts and commitments related to DAT output.
  • Working with the GTF Network cost management team to execute commercial strategy for cost reduction.
  • Developing standard work for interactions between the DAT and PW/IAE.
