The GSO-Metals Mechanic is responsible for repairing and fabricating piping, understanding differing metallurgy and its application in the refinery. The role involves installing and removing various types of blinds, orifice plates, and ancillary systems. The mechanic will perform installation, removal, fabrication, welding, and repair on equipment such as pipes, steel structures, reactors, heat exchangers, towers, heaters, boilers, tanks, and other related equipment in the refinery. The position requires the use of shop tools, ensuring all tools are in working condition, and making minor repairs as necessary. The mechanic must be able to read and interpret pipe prints, take field measurements, operate a forklift, and have basic rigging knowledge and bolt tensioning equipment. All duties must be performed following the safety guidelines established by the refinery, and the mechanic must be willing to work 12-16 hour shifts when required, including some weekends and holidays, and working overtime.
