About The Position

Graduate Student Instructor (GSI) applications are sought for Aerospace Engineering 200 (AEROSP 200) Winter 2026. Course Description AEROSP 200 Introduction to the Aerospace Enterprise. An introductions to leadership, culture and wide variety of technical fields that are part of the design, construction, and operations of Aeronautical and Astronautical vehicles. The course includes numerous seminars by notable practitioners. AEROSP 200 meets on Fridays 1:30-3:00 PM.

Requirements

  • To be considered for this position, you must be a College of Engineering student enrolled in an Engineering graduate program in good standing, taking at least 6 credit hours in the term for which you are applying.
  • Must have a GPA of 3.5 or higher as an undergraduate, have taken AEROSP 200 at U-M with at an A or better, or demonstrated equivalent experience in engineering.

Nice To Haves

  • Have taken AEROSP 200 with an A or better, served as an Instructional Aide for AEROSP 200 or other similar engineering course.

Responsibilities

  • coordinate, lead or assist in the instructional process in direct interaction with students. This can include class sessions, office hours, recitation, laboratory, quiz, or problem sessions
  • grade or support grading of homework and exams
  • GSIs are usually expected to work 10 (25% effort) or 20 hours (50% effort) per week, depending on course level and enrollment
